6 Yearly Home Maintenance Tasks

We’re on the third and last part of our home maintenance blog series. These tasks are taken from the 2-10 Home Buyer Warranty manual and are suggested ways to help keep your home regularly maintained. We at Synergy Designer Homes believe home ownership is both a source of pride for the homeowner as well an investment that requires responsible maintenance.

These 6 tasks are things you should complete on a yearly basis. Our list is merely a guideline and should not replace manufacture’s recommendations. Remember, with any of these tasks, safety first!

1. Check the condition of caulking around windows, doors and other areas of your home.

2. Inspect the condition of concrete slabs and patios for possible cracks. Small hairline cracks are normal and can be filled with concrete crack sealers found at hardware and home improvement stores.

3. Check on the condition of your septic tank if you have one. You should consult with a septic tank plumbing service if repairs are needed.

4. Clean and wax all stained woodwork in the home and visually inspect wood trim.

5. Use a licensed HVAC contractor such as Gerrald’s or Waters Mechanical to complete annual air conditioning and furnace maintenance.

6. Get a professional inspection of major appliances, especially if they use gas.

Are there other yearly maintenance items we missed on our list that you recommend? Did you find these tips and tasks helpful? Tell us in the comments or on our Facebook page. We at Synergy want to make sure that you get the most out of your home investment!
